Joanna García Cherán (she/her)
Joanna García Cherán (Purépecha) is an art historian, culture writer, and curator passionate about the art of our time. Her research interests include contemporary art, photography, Indigenous sovereignty, and visual culture. She is the inaugural Phyllis Wattis Assistant Curator of Native American Art at the Cantor Arts Center at Stanford University.
García Cherán holds an MA in Art History from Williams College. She earned her BA from the University of California, Berkeley, in history and Spanish literature.
